[2.0] Launching Your Site

Written by Paul Cox

DO NOT DO THIS ON A FRIDAY, SATURDAY OR SUNDAY

We're serious. A site launch can take a day and you don't want it to affect your weekend services. Launch your website Monday - Thursday.

If you already have a domain skip to step 1.

Set up Billing

In order to use a custom domain on our Platform you have to be on a paid account.

  • Click My Accounts & Payments

  • Choose A Plan

  • Enter your Payment Method.

  • The domain mapping features will now be unlocked.

Purchase a domain

If you don’t already own a domain you can purchase a domain from any provider. We recommend Cloudflare.com. They are easy and affordable.

Note: make sure to follow this process for both versions of your domain(www and non-www) For example:

yourwebsite.church
www.yourwebsite.church

This will ensure the SSL certificates are created for both version of the domain.

Step 1:

Head to the Domain Section of your Dashboard by going to Web > Domains.

Step 2: Click New Domain

Click the new Domain Button at the Top Right of your Screen

Step 3: Enter your Domain Name.

This is the name that is in your browser bar such as www.yourwebsite.church. Include the WWW.

Step 4: Edit the Settings

Here you will see the DNS Values that you need to add to your domain.

You can also set the action that you want the domain to take. Here we have set it to load a homepage.

Step 5: Repeat this for your main domain

This is the same domain but without the "www".

This time we've set it to redirect to the www version.

**NOTE**
Make sure to add both version of your domain:

Step 6: Wait....

This can take a little bit. Usually pretty quick but in some cases can take 48 hours.

When everything is ready. You will see a "Valid Configuration" checkbox next to the domain.

Best Practices

It's good to wait a day until you post about the new site on social media.

Domain changes can take days to process so it is common for you to see the site not working but someone else to see it working. This settles down after a couple of days.

Lastly... Party!!! Congrats!
